Details: Main Lounge of Allen Hall, 1005 W. Gregory Drive, U Free and open to the public Ayodele, a Yoruba word meaning “joy in the home", is a diverse sister-circle of performing artists committed to studying and performing diasporic African drum and dance to foster healing and community. Ayodele Drum & Dance performs frequently throughout the city of Chicago and the surrounding area at festivals, community events, and private parties. Their workshops for children and youth develop confidence and life skills using African music, dance, history, and art. Whether teaching in the community, studying with female Samba Masters in Brazil and Master Djembe and Dununfolas of West Africa, or spreading healing energy through performances, Ayodele Drum & Dance is an unending circle firmly rooted in joy. Ayodele’s visit is co-sponsored by Unit One/Allen Hall, Eusa Nia – the Black Student Union of Allen Hall, CRFB, and the CU Folk and Roots Festival.
